MyPC

In certain situations, you may find yourself asking for help with computer related issues and you will have to provide certain details about your machine. If you don't know how to acquire information about your video card, network adapters or other components, you can turn to MyPC. You can think of the application as a handy toolbox for your computer. It provides you with critical hardware and software information, it allows you to access various sections of your operating system much faster and it places a series of maintenance tools at your disposal.

MyPC works on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 and it is compatible with both 32 and 64-bit operating systems. The application's system requirements are modest and it can be installed in less than a minute. MyPC is freeware, but you can also find a Pro version, which is not free, but it provides additional features.

The software displays a vast range of information about your computer, on a tabbed interface. You can view basic information about your operating system, your CPU's characteristics, paths to important folders, memory usage and much more. Besides your computer's name, local IP address and other related details, the Network section consists of a useful tool, which you can use to acquire a web site's IP address.

The Control tab is where you can find a good number of helpful tools. You can access numerous system dialogs, like the Control Panel, DirectX's settings menu, and many other sections of the operating system, which can be a bit difficult to find, especially for inexperienced users. Additionally, you can shut down or reboot the computer, on the same tab, shred files, clean up temporary data, clear the recycle bin and more.

It is also possible to take snapshots of the screen, on the Control tab. Furthermore, you can save and restore the position of your icons and create system restore points. MyPC comes with a process manager as well. It displays your running processes, just like the Windows Task Manager, but it also displays a few details about the selected items. You can also hide all Windows processes, with a single click.
